FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 

Kasson, MN -   “Kasson Speedway Returns to Wissota” After a one year hiatus Kasson Speedway at the Dodge County Fairgrounds signed an intent to sanction with the Wissota Promoters Association.  Scott Mondus, promoter of the speedway announced today “ after several months of patience and looking for direction and a solid business plan from our current sanction partner, the time has come to address the needs of Kasson Speedway and its drivers.”  Due to the input of our drivers, sponsors, and fans, and the lack of any formal direction of the DTRA, plus the mass exodus of DTRA member tracks, the choice seems simply” Over the past 3 weeks our drivers completed a survey of their needs, the results point strongly to Wissota, and we intend to listen, stated Mondus.   

While I personally believe that the DTRA helped improve Midwest dirt racing, with the introduction of the one compound spec tire philosophy and in the process it  “woke a sleeping giant.”  However with that being stated,  It is hard to identify and carry the banner of a group that in my opinion is basically defunct.  With the founders of the DTRA now flying the NASCAR flag addressing only their own personal interests and abandoning the very partners they pursed to support their cause, I feel most,  if not all of us feel personally betrayed and as a result it appears the past member tracks have looked for new partners. We are excited about the potential benefits of Wissota, and we look forward to the new association.  Mondus went on to state. 

We appreciate all the drivers, sponsors and fans that supported us in 2007 and hope to see them all back in 2008.  In addition we certainly hope that our association with Wissota will bring back a few more familiar faces to Kasson Speedway that we missed last season.  The Speedway has over 21 events planed for 2008 that includes a first ever “NASCAR Night” featuring Kenny Wallace.  In addition to race events the speedway will host two of the popular “Eve of Destructions”, several enduro events, and a Demo Derby this season. 

Note:  Modifieds will remain USRA sanction for 2008
