PURE STOCK RULES

CAR & BODIES(1978 & older)   *Please see rules for cars 1998 to present.

American built two wheel rear drive only, passenger cars with minimum wheelbase of  108" . Minimum 3200 pounds total weight, with driver after race.  NO convertibles, truck, camaro, or firebird . ALL GLASS &  INTERIOR must be removed. CAR must be stripped of all moldings; all pop metal, plastic and fiberglass. Steering must remain in stock position. Remove or disable steering lock. Quick release hub highly recommended. NO steering quickener of any kind. Quick release hood pins only on hood and trunk. No wing nuts, bolts, bungee, wires, or chains. Interior cannot be boxed in. Stock firewall between trunk and interior and between motor and interior stock floor pan. Trunk floor, rear inner wheel wells must stay intact. Bumpers must be anchored securely  NO SHARP EDGES. Wheel openings may be trimmed for tire clearance  Repairs for rust but original body may not be cut away. Must have bars and screen in half of windshield opening. Driver side doors must be welded shut. Doorplate in drivers door with minimum thickness of 18 gauge. Stock appearing nosepiece one hoop in front of radiator, frame mounted, behind grill with one kickback on each side not to extend beyond spring tower max 1 ¾" OD. Tow hooks and/or loops mandatory both front and rear of car. The tow hooks must be visible and painted orange.  No gas, oil, or transmission lines or hoses maybe run in the cockpit unless they are braided steel lines. All weights must be fastened with (2) ½" bolts grade 5 or better.

BATTERY

12-volt only battery must be mounted between frame rails inside trunk. Must be in marine type case if it is in the drivers compartment. All batteries must be securely mounted and shielded. All cars must have battery kill switch clearly labeled "ON AND OFF", accessible for driver with seatbelts on.

FUEL TANKS

 Safety approved fuel cells are mandatory and original gas tank must be removed.  12 gallons maximum.  Fuel cells must be mounted in a metal can and surrounded with a minimum of two (2) 1/8 inch by two (2) inch metal straps. Fuel cell must be equipped with a device to prevent fuel leakage in the event of vehicle upset. Any fuel cell vent must extend to bottom of fuel cell and be fastened at lowest point. No exceptions. Cell must be mounted between and above frame rails.

SEAT AND SAFETY

HELMETS

 Helmets must be a minimum of SNELL SA2000 rated and must have full face shield and must be in place when racing.. Helmet must be in good visible condition. 

DRIVERS SUIT

Drivers suit of flame retardant material is required and MUST be in good condition.

SAFETY HARNESS, BELTS, AND NETS

Safety harness must be minimum five (5) point with anti-submarine belt. Safety harness and belts must be a minimum of three (3) inches wide. Metal to metal buckles are required on the shoulder harness, lap belt, and anti-submarine belt. All belts and harness must be no older than five (5) years. All belts and harnesses must be made by a commercial manufacturer and intended for competition use.  Window net must be fastened to roll cage or door bars. Net must be securely fastened and have release mechanism at upper front of window opening and accessible to driver while in the car. Roll bar padding and neck braces are required.

ROLL CAGE

Main cage must be minimum of 1 ¾" OD. Mild steel tubing. Must have wall thickness of at least 0.095. No iron pipe or square tubing allowed. No brazing or soldering allowed.  Must be frame mounted in at least six (4) places Must consist of at least a rear hoop  above drivers head and two rear mounted down bars welded to either the frame or to 6" x6" inch min 3/16 plates welded to the floor. At least one driver side bar mounted from the roll bar to the floor is recommended.   Roll cage may extend to rear bumper and ahead of firewall to rear of "A" frame.  Drivers side door plate welded or bolted to the door at least 4 inches forward of door to 4 inches rear of all doors min of 3/16" must be installed. (in lieu of door plate four post roll cage w/halo, welded to the frame in six spots with four driver door bars with min 18 gauge cover plate may be installed)

SUSPENSION

No modification of suspension allowed at all. All parts must remain absolutely STOCK. No racing suspension allowed No spacers,  chains, or any alterations to suspension. . No spring spacers may be used. Front springs must have same dimensions. Rear springs must have same dimensions. Coil springs must be same diameter with a minimum of 5 inches OD.  Shocks must be stock. Original spring pockets may not be altered. No  weight jacks. No steering quickener.

BRAKES

No adjustable proportioning valve.. Operable and effective 4-wheel brakes mandatory at all times. All brake components must be stock. No  brake shut off. No rear disk brakes.  OEM master cylinder mandatory.

WHEELS AND TIRES

 Maximum eight (8) inch rim.  MUST be steel  spoke or racing wheel on right side of car.  Left side Optional. All wheels must use one inch steel lug nuts . No bead locks or screws,  spacers, or adaptors.  All wheels must be painted  bright color to be seen easily.

TIRES:  Any 14 or 15" DOT  or Goodyear 8" G60 tire allowed.  No snow tires.  NO grooving or siping allowed.  

CARBURETION

Stock Holley 4412 2-barrel 500 CFM only.  No milling, cutting, or grinding on carburetor. Air horn must be in tack. Stock 2- or 4 barrel intake only. Carb adapter not to exceed one (1) inch. No carb spacers, no electric fuel pumps. Stock fuel pump only. Two (2) throttle return springs.

EXHAUST

Exhaust manifolds stock only, no center dumps,ALL exhaust must exit through the tail pipe and MUST exit behind driver and have turn downs. 

TRANSMISSION 

Stock automatic only. Minimum of twelve (12) inch diameter torque converter. No two (2) speeds. No lock-up converter.  Extra cooling for transmission under hood or in the trunk only. Mini spool or posi rear ends, no welded gears allowed.  Drive shaft loop mandatory MUST be mounted 6 to 8  inches rear of  forward u-joint .

ENGINE

Engine MUST be stock OEM components.  Maximum compression ratio 9.5 :1.  Piston may not protrude above deck Hydraulic cam only.  Maximum cam lift of 0.475 inch, Cubic inch limit: 367-CID.   Maximum overbore allowed is .060.  MUST retain Stock motor mounts,  no solid mounts and must remain mounted in stock location.  Stock cast iron two or four barrel intake manifolds only. No aftermarket or marine, Manifolds.  No coating, painting, grinding, port matching absolutely NO machining. 

Heads must match block,  305 head, 305 block maximum 1.94 intake, 1.5 exhaust will be mandatory.  Cast iron only, No angle plug, vortex or camelback heads allowed.  Casting numbers not allowed: 186, 187, 414, 492, 461, 461X, 462, 432, 041, 040, 370, 10239906, 14011083, 14096217, 10125320, 10208890, 12554290.  No Bowtie, SVO, W2 or any aftermarket heads allowed.

Stock ratio rockers only; no fulcrum roller or roller-tipped rockers allowed. No stud girdles or guide plates allowed. Stamped steel rockers only. No modifications allowed on rockers. Valve springs must be the stock diameter .

Factory OEM ignitions only, one stock coil only. Stock HEI allowed. No dual point distributors. A working Stock type starter in the stock location must be used.. Radiator in stock location.
