MONDUS WINS NIGHT 2 OF HOUSTON WINTER NATIONALS Lakeville, MN - Alan Mondus of Lakeville, MN wins Friday night at the Texas Winter Nationals. In a star filled field of 60 plus cars including the 8 time national champion, the driver farthest from home took the top spot at the Texas Winter Nationals. 19 year old Alan Mondus capitalized on his second row starting spot to shoot by the pole sitter Burford coming off of turn two. From there the young Mondus never looked back in his 35 lap flag to flag win and his first USMTS national event feature win, becoming one of the series youngest ever feature winners. The race included 5 yellow flags which Mondus later stated "felt like 100", he took advantage of the yellows to cool his right rear tire that started smoking on lap 20. Challenged only once the young gun hit his mark lap after lap in a flawless drive to the victory. "I could feel the right rear giving up late in the race and was really trying to save it, I'm just happy that old tire made it." stated Mondus looking at his slicked over tire at the finish line. "That one will be hung on the wall in the shop" said the excited and proud father Scott Mondus. Ironically the Houston event was not even on the teams schedule for the year, as one of Alan's long time fans that dates back to the days of his Quarter midget racing came forward and prompted the trip south as a vacation for them and sponsored the trip. Clearly Theresa Guth of Savage, MN is Alan's #1 fan. The team's next appearance is planned for the Volusia 2008 speedweeks. The team is Sponsored by Kasson Speedway, TC Automotive Race engines, Real Wheels, Brother Jorgenson Racing Products & Mondus Motorsports Yamaha/Honda For More information on Alan Mondus visit his website at www.alanmondus.com
